Adela New
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. New graduated from Oregon State University in 1995, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, she attended Washington State University from 1988 to 1991, where she earned her degree in Biology and Veterinary Science.
Dr. Adela New has been a licensed veterinarian in the state of Oregon since 1995. She holds USDA accreditation for all species. Dr. New began her veterinary career in a mixed animal practice, where she worked for 10 years, treating farm animals, pets, exotics, and wildlife. She then spent 5 years in shelter medicine before joining Ocean Veterinary Hospital, where she has dedicated the last 16 years to small animal practice.
Her inspiration to become a veterinarian stemmed from her love of animals, shaped by growing up surrounded by cats, goats, dogs, and chickens, and by the writings of James Herriot, with whom she shares a birthday. Dr. New enjoys interacting with patients and clients, learning about new treatments, and improving patient care.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. New enjoys reading history, learning about sustainable agriculture, homeschooling her children, exploring theology, music, and running. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association.
